    VT Group is seeking a Network Engineer 3 located in Chantilly, VA.


    • Meeting with clients to identify the functional and technical requirements and constraints
    • Performing site surveys and network assessments on customer sites and develop reports to present results
    • Designing and engineering detailed technical solutions that meet or exceed the requirements
    • Providing network engineering support in specifying the design, equipment, and technical approach in response to RFPs and/or customer requirements.
    • Working with SMEs for other systems (Access Control, IDS, AV, and Surveillance) and ensure required network requirements are understood, properly accounted for in overall design, and implemented.
    • Creating implementation approaches/plans including major phases, required roles, and tasks.
    • Providing device configurations for network equipment based on architecture and functional requirements, to include but not limited to VLAN, trunks, NTP, RADUIS, SNMP, ACLs, SVIs, Routing OSPF/EIGRP/BGP, QOS, Multicast routing, VoIP, MPLS, etc.)
    • Coordinating and participating in the evaluation, configuration, and administration of GPON network systems.
    • The types of solutions that this professional will configure / install / troubleshoot include the following: routing & switching solutions, Cisco 55xx firewalls, wireless solutions, VoIP solutions, MPLS solutions, Cisco Nexus Data Center Switching Solutions


    Qualifications Required

    • Bachelor or Associates Degree in Related Field; or related experience in network engineering
    • Min 5 Years experience designing / installing / configuring / troubleshooting network and IT environments
    • CCNP or equivalent
    • Active DoD Secret Clearance


    Requried Skills / Capabilities

    • Experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco 55xx Firewalls.

    • Experience with hands-on network implementation and troubleshooting across the access, distribution, and core.

    • Experience setting up Cisco Point-to-Point VPNs

    • WAN experience including MPLS and coordinating installation and troubleshooting with service providers, i.e. AT&T.

    • Knowledge based experience in switching, routing, enterprise architectures, and network troubleshooting

    • Experience in the design, planning, and implementation of communications solutions based on Cisco technologies

    • Experience specifying equipment to cost effectively meet solution requirements, including HW devices, optics, transceivers, etc.

    • Experience with debugging and analytics techniques such as the use of network protocol analyzers, analysis of dump files, tracing, and performance tuning.

    • Experience with network performance monitoring tools, preferably Solarwinds NPM

    • Team-oriented performer with an outstanding work ethic

    • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks / projects simultaneously.

    • Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.

    • Microsoft Visio proficiency


    Preferred Additional Skills:

    • Flexibility and willingness to support full-stack (network, compute, storage, cloud, applications)

    • Experience with Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPON)

    • Virtualization / VDI implementation experience and/or knowledge base

    • VMWare certifications desired

    • All Cisco certifications

    • Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, etc.)

    • Scripting / Programming experience

    • Experience with industry leading Next Generation Firewalls solutions (Cisco, Checkpoint, etc.)

    • Additional industry certifications (Public Cloud, SD-WAN, WAN optimization, Virtualization)

    • VoIP experience with design / installation / integration / troubleshooting / experience (Cisco Call Manager)

    • The ability to communicate complex solutions in a simple and straight-forward way


    • May travel as required
