    VT Group is seeking Engineer Technician 3 located in Omaha Nebraska.

    Responsibilities

    Provides technical support to senior level engineering technicians. May act as team leader on complicated and large scope installations or tasks as determined by statements of work. May run complicated installations or programs and coordinate all activities associated with the installation while serving as direct point of contact with a customer. Provides engineering support in such areas as research, design, and development, testing and manufacturing process improvements.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Install, appropriately secure, and dress-in all cabling and user desktop IT equipment
    • Assist in the integration, installation and testing of Audio/Video/Video Teleconferencing Systems
    • Assist in the de-installation, relocation and/or installation of systems
    • Support IT cable plant and equipment installation
    • Pull, test and terminate CAT5, CAT5e, CAT 6, copper and fiber
    • Provide technical support, installation, test, and checkout of C4ISR and IT equipment and associated cabling to include:
    • Uncrate all equipment slated for installation and conduct inspections and inventory of all cable spools, equipment and subcomponents
    • Conduct performance tests of all installed optical fiber,
    • Cat6A and serial cabling and provide associated cable test results in both soft and hard copy formats
    • Clean and re-test all optical fiber strands that do not pass optical loss performance tests. If cleaning does not remedy the failed test, re-terminate the fiber and re-test.
    • Provide and install on each installed cable, computer generated labels at both ends of each cable in accordance with the IDP.
    • Maintain an Excel spreadsheet with cabling data for each of the cables being installed to facilitate preparation of cable labels.
    • Install on each multi-user terminal outlet assembly (MUTOA), outlet box and/or patch sub-modules, computer generated labels in accordance with the IDP.
    • Update and maintain all design documents by marking all red-lined changes during the course of installation
    • Document test results of cabling, equipment and materials in accordance with CDRL A013

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience

    Must have one of the following:

    • Associates Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Information Technology or similar
    • Four (4) years of U.S. military service as a technician.
    • Completion of a formal two year or more contractor apprenticeship in a related field that included at least six months of formal classroom training and address electrical circuit theory, electromagnetic radiation, and other disciplines related to C4ISR installations.

     

    General Experience

     

    Eight (8) years of practical experience as an installer of Shore C4ISR equipment for the Department of Defense and/or major telecommunications services or equipment providers.

     

    Specific Experience

    • Understand and correctly red-line as-built drawings.
    • Able to locate and correct installation errors such as standards violations and incorrect wiring.

     

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    • Valid driver’s license
    • IAT Certification(s) (Security+, Network+, A+) desired, not required.

     

    Other Qualifications

    • This position requires 8 years demonstrated experience in electronic systems/cabling installations experience.
    • 4 years of working technical experience in equipment installation, modification, field change, operation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of electrical and or electronic systems. Complete working knowledge of Military Standard procedures and regulations. 
    • An active DOD Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
