    VT Group is seeking Telecommunications Technician 1 located in Guam.

    Responsibilities

    Has knowledge to install and repair telecommunications systems and equipment by performing the following duties:

     

    • Monitors PBX system performance to assure the dependable and uninterrupted operation of telephone communications.
    • Corrects PBX alarm conditions.
    • Identifies and replaces malfunctioning or inoperative equipment, such as circuit cards or processing units, and performs repairs and preventative maintenance.
    • Determines which backup components should be maintained in stock.
    • Troubleshoots entire communications system to determine if problems are telephone hardware or cabling.
    • Develops emergency plan to deal with a catastrophic event.
    • Oversees or assists in installation of PBX hardware.
    • Sets up new users and relocates existing users with telephone extensions, calling features, voice mail, and access codes.
    • Terminates cable on cross connects, hubs, and routers.
    • Reads technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment which meets establishment requirements.
    • Visits vendors to learn about available products, enhancements, or services.
    • Tests and evaluates hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing systems.

    Qualifications

     Education/Experience:

    • HS plus two years of related experience and/or training; or AS in related field.

     

    Mathematical Skills:

    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

     

    Computer Skills:

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    • Valid driver's license to operate company owned or rented vehicles.

     

    Other:

    • Ability to travel as required.
