    VT Group is seeking a Senior System Administrator to be based in Chantilly, VA.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    Seeking a Senior System Administrator to serve as a technical expert in complex enterprise applications. Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise applications. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Maintains a high level of service by Identifying methods, solutions, and providing project management and leadership.

    • Serves as the SME (subject matter expert) for VT Group’s suite of business applications, particularly the Deltek suite of products.
    • Assists in creation and implementation of the organization’s enterprise integration strategy.
    • Performs testing of all applications assigned; including the development of effective test plans and analysis of testing results in all environments (test, dev and production).
    • Participates in the testing of hot fixes, releases and system upgrades as assigned.
    • Manages the day-to-day operations of the enterprise applications by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Works with vendors to assist support activities.
    • Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Trains technical staff in how to use new software.
    • Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
    • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical application resources.
    • Develops procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.
    • Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host-based applications.
    • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for the organization to take advantage of new technology.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis. Five to seven years work experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support.
    • Knowledge of: Programming and Database languages and operating systems; installation and administration of the Deltek suite of applications including CostPoint, GovWinCM, Cobra, T&E, as well as IBM CER, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring tools and effective project management techniques.

    • Ability to: Plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.
