    VT Group is seeking Sheetmetal Mechanic 2 located in Virginina Beach, va.


    Lays out, mills, drills, turns, grinds, fits, and assembles castings and parts to make metal foundry patterns, core boxes, and match plates by performing the following duties:


    • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
    • Measures, marks, and scribes layout on metals, plastics, woods, and laminates.
    • Sets up and operates machine tools such as press brakes, shears, punches, and rollers, drill presses, vertical and horizontal band saws, to fabricate parts to specifications.
    • Utilizes hand tools such as grinders, drills, rivet guns, saws, calipers, scribes, combination squares. 
    • Verifies conformance of fabricated layouts and items to the blueprint specifications.
    • Operate all machines in discipline with an emphasis in efficiently operationing press brake machines.



    • HS plus three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience to include AS plus one years of experience or BS in related field.
    • Experience operating press brake, shears, punches, rollers, drill presses, veritical and horizontal band saws.
    • Must be able to read blueprints.


    Mathematical Skills:

    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
