Overview

VT Group is seeking Engineering Technician 5 (Lead) located in Omaha, NE.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site surveys to confirm prevailing site conditions.
  • Work with the Government Project Manager in finalizing a schedule to support installation activities at the new C2 Facility site.
  • Attend planned and/or ad hoc coordination meetings.
  • Provide technical support, installation, test, and checkout of C4ISR and IT equipment and associated cabling to include:
    • Uncrate all equipment slated for installation and conduct inspections and inventory of all cable spools, equipment and subcomponents 
    • Conduct performance tests of all installed optical fiber,
    • Cat6A and serial cabling and provide associated cable test results in both soft and hard copy formats
    • Clean and re-test all optical fiber strands that do not pass optical loss performance tests. If cleaning does not remedy the failed test, re-terminate the fiber and re-test. 
    • Provide and install on each installed cable, computer generated labels at both ends of each cable in accordance with the IDP. 
    • Maintain an Excel spreadsheet with cabling data for each of the cables being installed to facilitate preparation of cable labels.
    • Install on each multi-user terminal outlet assembly (MUTOA), outlet box and/or patch sub-modules, computer generated labels in accordance with the IDP.
    • Update and maintain all design documents by marking all red-lined changes during the course of installation
    • Document test results of cabling, equipment and materials in accordance with CDRL A013
  • Install, appropriately secure, and dress-in all cabling and user desktop IT equipment
  • Assist in the integration, installation and testing of Audio/Video/Video Teleconferencing Systems
  • Assist in the de-installation, relocation and/or installation of systems
  • Support IT cable plant and equipment installation
  • Pull, test and terminate CAT5, CAT5e, CAT 6, copper and fiber

Qualifications

  • Twelve (12) years of practical experience as an installer of Shore C4ISR equipment for the Department of Defense and/or major telecommunications services or equipment providers
  • Must have one of the following:
    • Associates Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Information Technology or similiar
    • Four (4) years of U.S. military service as a technician
    • Completion of a formal two year or more contractor apprenticeship in a related field that included at least six months of formal classroom training and address electrical circuit theory, electromagnetic radiation, and other disciplines related to C4ISR installations
  • An active DOD Secret clearance; TS/SCI preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Must be able to effectively lead a crew of other installers in the completion of multiple site locations.
  • Effectively brief site personnel on the installation status and on future plans for completing the installation
  • Understand and correctly red-line as-built drawings.
  • Locate and correct installation errors such as standards violations and incorrect wiring.

Certifications

  • Possess Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Information Transport Systems (ITS) Installer certification and Technician certification
  • CPR Certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid Electrician’s License
