Overview

VT Group is seeking an Electrician located in Omaha, NE at Offutt Air Force Base. 

 

Responsibilities

Familiar with a variety of complex plan layouts, installations, wiring repairs, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment and relies on experience and judgement while performing the following duties. Works independently or under limited supervision.

 

  • May be required to act as a lead electrician on complex installations. May provide direction and assign duties to installation personnel. May oversee technical positions or other electricians on routine or advanced level installations.
  • Plans new or modified complex installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
  • Prepares complicated sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit
  • Pulls wiring through conduit
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps
  • Connects wiring to complex fixtures and power equipment
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels on complex or unusual installations
  • Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads on complex or unusual installations
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
  • Repairs complex faulty equipment or systems
  • Cuts and welds steel structural members

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma

 

Experience

  • Four years of experience in electrical wiring installations to include experience installing power panels, electrical outlets, circuit breakers, and EMT conduit; three of which years of experience installation electrical wiring for DOD communications or electronics facilities.

 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Electrician License in Nebraska required (must obtain within 60 days from start date)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Active Secret Clearance, TS/SCI is preferred. Must be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70E), and of the electrical guidance in Appendix AC of the SPAWAR Shore Installation Process Handbook.
